BIO
Jimmy Keller is an artist located just outside of Buffalo, NY. Jimmy Keller creates sculptures and installations which recognize the past, present, and future of human coexistence with the necessary natural world. His current pieces draw inspiration from history including the advancements of the industrial revolution and our current ideas of land development.
Keller received his Bachelors of Fine Arts from the State University of New York at Fredonia. He began professionally chainsaw carving at the age of fifteen, traveling around the northeast creating large-scale wooden sculptures. He quickly expanded into other art forms, still incorporating many of the skills learned early on. He studied historical renaissance and contemporary art in Florence, Italy. He currently is an art column writer for SUNY Fredonia’s newspaper, The Leader, where he addresses the local and worldwide contemporary art scene in a critical and philosophical way, while incorporating expertise of other artists and professionals. After receiving his BFA, Keller will then proceed for his Masters of Fine Arts.
After graduating from SUNY Fredonia in May of 2024, he will proceed to work as an artist and attend an artist residency. In fall of 2025, he will continue towards his Masters of Fine Arts. His goal is to educate other young artists at the post-secondary level, hoping to reinvent art education in the midst of the decline of art at the university level.
Keller finds beauty and appreciation in the environment through kayaking, biking, skiing, hiking and traveling. His overall passion emerges from nature and his ambition to inspire, educate, and connect through the power of art.
